A Message From the President

president of junior league of johnson city rachel deanIt is my great honor and privilege to serve the Junior League of Johnson City as President in the 2023-2024 League year. I am excited to join the 2023-2024 Board to serve both our League members and our community.

Over the past 76 years, the Junior League of Johnson City has had a lasting and positive impact on our community. We remain innovative with our efforts to improve the lives of women and children in our community. The League projects and members have been instrumental in the development and founding of several important programs in Johnson City, including Hands On! Museum, Watauga Mental Health Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, Johnson’s Depot Playground, the Caring Cabinet Network with the Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians, and Safe House

I am so proud of our League members who donate thousands of volunteer hours each year in an effort to improve and support our community, all the while carrying out important roles in their homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

We are an organization that believes in equity and inclusion for all. We embrace our differences and come together as a unified front to stand up for those who need our support. Creating a community where we connect and protect each other as people is always at the forefront of our membership and service.

Each year, the Junior League offers us new learning opportunities, trainings and experiences. The Junior League has been preparing us to show up and lead under any circumstance, and that has never been more relevant than today. We will all have the opportunity to be leaders and innovators as we continue to grow and make a positive impact on our community. I know that the 2023-2024 League year will provide us with many exciting opportunities to do so.

Our incredible members are hard at work on many of these efforts. It is a true privilege to work alongside such a motivated, passionate and inspiring group of women.

The past few years have challenged us to be creative in how we serve the community and remain connected to one another, but one thing is certain, the power and role of the Junior League has never been more important. The Junior League needs you and the community needs us. Whether you choose to make a donation, sponsor our projects and programs, become a community partner, or join our membership, your support of our mission will ensure that we continue to deepen our impact and transform our volunteers into civic leaders.

No matter the challenge, no matter the issue, we are the Junior League of Johnson City. We are better together, and we are ready to live up to our purpose and carry on our legacy.

Sincerely,
Rachel Dean
